I am trying to find a marriage date for my G Grandfather. He enlisted to the 77th Foot Middlesex regt in 1875 in Hounslow Middlesex. (which I am pretty sure is the area he was born in) He was then sent to Duncannon Fort wexford Southern Ireland. When and where did he marry his wife? Mary Anne Rose O'Hara? John James Dewey died of intermittent fever whilst still a soldier in Kirkee India in 1896. They had four children the first of which was Eliza born in 1886 in Secundenbad India. |

The Army Returns - Marriages - 1886 to 1890 has the following marriage index entry. |

It appears that Mary remarried after John's death |

The names and occupation of the fathers of each of the parties in a marriage should be recorded on the marriage cert.....no matter whether it's the first marriage, or a subsequent one. |

So why was Mary Anne Rose Ohara in India? Hopefully the first marriage certificate will provide some insight. |

Just scanned the index and she is not listed under Ohara. The name appears to be ADSHEAD |
