The names are not ones that I recognise at the moment - having not gone any further than george, but I'll save them as St Luke and Canning Town etc. are on the Marriage cert and children's birth certs so they could be related somehow :o)

The thing that was making me doubt if he was born at Custom House was the fact that when he had to swear in court, he was quite old and from the fact that on his medical papers and ID card, there are different years of birth written - as if he wasn't quite sure. As I haven't been able to find him in the census etc in West Ham or Essex, is making me wonder if maybe he was from somewhere else and moved to West Ham. Is starting to be a real puzzle - and very frustrating :o$

I don't know too much else about him. I know he was called George Edward Agar, born around 1891 - although some of his papers such as medical card / id card say 1892/1893. He said he was born at Custom House West Ham, but I am not 100% certain this was correct.

He married Ellen Blackman in 1916 in West Ham. Ellen was married before. I am not sure which is her surname and which is her married name, but on marriage cert it is Blackman, with father as Edward Blackman. However on their children's birth certs it is Ellen Agar, late Blackman, formerly Coleman.

From his marriage cert - his father was called George also. This cert says in Jan 1916, both George and his father were Firemen.

On this cert his age is given as 23.

What else do you know about him?

Did he marry? If so, whom? And when?

The cert would tell you his age....plus the name and occupation of his father. That info should make finding him in 1901 much easier.......and more accurate.

If this is all duplicating advice on the other board, please excuse me.......I haven't seen the other thread.

Hi All

Sorry to pester with another message.

Since my message on the Trying to Find forum, I am still looking to find out about George Agar born 1891-1893 possibly in Essex. Had no luck following the possibilities that people suggested yet, but am still trying :o). However:

Have found George Agar in the BMD index born Sept 1891 in Braintree. However, I can't find the same person in the 1901 census - nowhere remotely close Braintree anyway :o$. Not sure that I'm looking right and wondered if anyone can help me find him.
