I did have a quick look on ancestry before I went out this morning (my time!), and didn't find anything then.

Debbie - image for 1901 is definitely Olive, definitely daughter. Unless you're happy to wait for the 1911 census I think the only way to sort this out is to get the younger Olive's birth cert!

I have double checked the censuses and the images, and that is what they say. The names and ages are as I put them last night, so the birth year has not been mis-attributed.

Olive Lily was transcribed as Aline Lily but the image is clearly Olive. I did compare the initial letter with other As and Os on the page.

I checked freebmd and found the following Olive births in Foleshill:-

Births Jun 1886 (>99%)

Randle Olive Lilly Foleshill 6d 486


Births Sep 1895 (>99%)

Randle Olive Dorothy Foleshill 6d 499


Plus an Oliver Randle born in 1896 to, I think, John & Eliza Randle.

I could not find a birth for Aline or Alice Lil(l)y Randle.

I cannot find a death for an Olive or Olive Lil(l)y between 1891 and 1897, nor can I find her on the 1901 census. Yet that is what must have happened.

I have put this on here in the hope that someone else may be able to solve the problem.
