Not having any luck positively identifying Sidney or Rhoda in earlier censuses. Or finding a marriage. One fact could explain the other -- one or both of them was married to someone else. These things did happen.

My father's father's father's father's ... family is from the same area -- Mere, and possibly earlier Chilmark (Sidney's place of birth per the 1901) -- there were some 17th century colonists in the US by the same surname who apparently came from Chilmark or nearby, so I figure I'm related to the whole clan south of the US-Canada border, with all its revolutionary war and confederate "heroes", ew. No Levers that I know of, though!

Unfortunately, either of these births could be the one!

Name: Alfred Lever
Year of Registration: 1899
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: Wilton
County: Wiltshire
Volume: 5a
Page: 177

Name: Alfred Samuel Lever
Year of Registration: 1900
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
District: Wilton
County: Wiltshire
Volume: 5a
Page: 188

-- both Alfreds could have been be "1" at the 1901 census (if the younger one were actually born in March, say).

You gotta trick that search engine. ;)

Searching for Alfred born 1899-1901 with father Sydney (no surname, to circumvent mistranscriptions at Ancestry), in Bapton, Wiltshire, in the 1901 census, we find:

Mother's Name: Rhoda
Gender: Male
Where born: Bapton, Wiltshire, England

I am looking for information on my great-grandfather's siblings / his father's / his mother's family.

He was born in 1900 in Bapton (think this is the correct place name) in Wiltshire and died in 1981 in Yeovil, Somerset.

I know his father was called Sidney. His mother (name unknown) died in 1904. He had 2 older brothers (names unknown).

His wife was Henrietta Beatrice Kate Lever of Hindon, Wiltshire.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Lynsey
