On family search I have found the person I am looking for. It has a film number and pages. If I go along to my local center will some one there point me in the right direction or just leave me to it? I don't want to go and just be stood around not knowing what to do and feeling daft

Thanks
Marcelle

You will probably have to order the film in advance. If you tell the staff when you get there that you are unsure of what to do, most of them are very helpful.

If it's a 'submitted' entry, it may not be worth the effort..........

No batch number just a film number. When I click on it it says Sealings for the dead, couples and children (includes some living spouses and children) 1943-1970; heir indexes, 1943-1965

The years seem stange as he was christened in 1735

There is also another entry for his christening and that says

Endowments for the dead, 1923-1970; heir indexes, 1923-1949; baptisms for the dead, 1944-1970

A baptism won't have much more information than you can see on the IGI. It will possibly have the occupation of the father and maybe an address, although this is often just the name of the village.

Even the village would be a help...every one I have had contact with seems to think he came from Winterbourne. I have checked the Winterbourne parish records and surrounding area's ie Frenchay and Winterbourne Down and nothing although he did marry at Winterbourne but I was told most marriages took place in the brides parish
