There are a lot of Morans of Irish origin living in the Small Heath and Sparkhill areas of Birmingham - you could start by starting with them and working backwards to see if you have any links. also try dropping an e-mail to Birmingham historian and broadcaster Carl Chinn who hails from that area and is also of Irish descent - he will probably be able to point you in the right direction

Can anyone shed light on my Great Grandfathers family....possibly from Westmeath Ireland.
His wife`s name was Lillian and they had quite a large family of children, one being my Grandfather also James Moran born 1901
was either Irish or english born. I cannot find any trace of Birth records in England and have also checked with the Isle of Man.
He settled in Birmingham after a stint in the English Navy.
