On other people's trees that I am in contact with some say william was registered as being born in bristol others say stepney as you have got above but on the census it says at sea could it be possible that his mother was on her way from Ireland and the boat docked at bristol first so she had to register his birth then and the boat went on to london so she reregistered him there. I don't know if this is possible or am I barking up the wrong tree as this could explain what the b and s mean on the census. Dawn. |

I wonder if it was a case of being asked where he was born in1881 and he said he was "at sea" i.e. he didn't know! After all he was 75 years old. |

I am trying to find info about william neesham born 1806. He married someone called lydia marstom and also was married to someone called harriot evans. I know about his children but the problem I have is on the 1881 census it states he was born (b s) at sea so I don't know anything about who his parents were. He was a retired blacksmith in staffordshire. Any help on finding out who his parents were would be great. Thanks Dawn. |
