And here's the household in 1841 -- Elizabeth Newmans Hemmings in her parents' household:

Name: Elizabeth Newmans
Age: 17
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1824
Gender: Female
Where born: Warwickshire, England

Civil Parish: Wolfhamcote
Hundred: Knightlow (Southam Division)
County/Island: Warwickshire
Country: England

Registration district: Rugby
Sub-registration district: Dunchurch

Andrew Newmans 1 Mo
Elizabeth Newmans 17
Emma Newmans 9
Esther Newmans 35
Jesse Newmans 12
John Newmans 5
Joseph Newmans 34
Joseph Newmans 7
Samuel Newmans 2
William Newmans 14

Of course, this wasn't what you were wanting to know!

But it still looks like Harriet Compton could have been Elizabeth's daughter by a previous marriage/relationship.

The sons in the 1861 household all show as born in Sawbridge, so with their DOBs and that info, they should be traceable in later censuses.

Can't find a Hemmings-Compton marriage with those given names (there's a Joseph marrying a Susannah).

Can't find a Compton-Newman(s) marriage either.

Well, not sure what all the relationships are -- may leave you to play with this yourself! -- but this seems to be Harriet Compton in 1851:

Name: Harriett Compton
Age: 4
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1847
Relation: Daughter
Father's Name: Joseph
Mother's Name: Esther
Gender: Female
Where born: Sawbridge, Warwickshire, England

Civil Parish: Wolfhampcote
County/Island: Warwickshire
Country: England

Registration district: Rugby
Sub-registration district: Crick
ED, institution, or vessel: 4
Household schedule number: 74

Harriett Compton 4
Andrew Newmans 9
Benjamin Newmans 4
Eliza Newmans 7
Emma Newmans 19
Esther Newmans 45
John Newmans 15
Joseph Newmans 43
Joseph Newmans 17
Samuel Newmans 12
William Newmans 24

Maybe Harriet Compton was Jesse Newmans's daughter?

If you go to

http://freebmd.org.uk

you can find what would seem to be the birth of Jesse (the first one I looked for):

Births Dec 1852
Hemmings Jesse Rugby 6d 380

I don't see a marriage for Elizabeth and William ... there's a possible William Hemmings + Elizabeth Reader marriage in 1841 in Coventry.

(I searched for William Hemmings marrying Elizabeth 1840-1852; the results only tell you which names appear on the same page, not who married whom.)

You can search for the children's marriages in the right timeframe, once you know their birthdates.

With Jesse's birth info and father's name, searching the 1871 census, we get:

Name: William Hemmings
Age: 40
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1821
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Elizabeth
Gender: Male
Where born: Sawbridge, Warwickshire, England

Name: Elizabeth Hemmings
Age: 36
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1825
Relation: Wife
Spouse's Name: William
Gender: Female
Where born: Bishops Itchington, Warwickshire, England

Civil Parish: Wolfhampcote
County/Island: Warwickshire
Country: England

Registration district: Rugby
Sub-registration district: Dunchurch
ED, institution, or vessel: 13
Household schedule number: 3

Harriett Compton 12
Elizabeth Hemmings 36
Jesse Hemmings 8
Joseph Hemmings 6
William Hemmings 40
William Hemmings 2
Jesse Newmans 32

The transcription has been completely screwed up. Young Jesse Hemmings has been assigned a wife Harriet. In fact, Harriet Compton is "daughter-in-law", meaning stepdaughter. Jesse Newmans is brother-in-law.

So it seems that Elizabeth Newman(s) was first married to a Compton.

Believed to have married a William Hemmings in Warwickshire about 1850.

Elizabeth is a sister to my Gt Gt Grandfather William.

Do you have any information about Elizabeth please .or her 4 sons Jesse , Joseph, William and John. The sons were all born in Warwickshire.

Are you related to them, if so please get in touch?
