Dear Margaret,
Sorry I thought that we had finished; I did not realise that you are a super detective.
I am thrilled that you have found a family in 1841 that looks as if it could be my family. It is interesting that they are living in Birmingham but it fits! I was wondering if he married an Elizabeth Beard or Davies in 1837. It looks from the wonderful work that you have done that it was Davies. It is a pity that the 1841 census does not show relationships.

You are correct in your assumption about the 1861 census. Their son George is my direct descendant. It looks as if they were both married before.

Thank you so much for all your help this afternoon. I will have a great deal to tell my grandfather.

Is this him in 1861 with a new wife?
Cambridge Bristol Rd., Slimbridge, Gloucestershire
William Lord, head, 50, butcher, born Slimbridge
Martha, wife, 37, born Wilts, Chippenham
William, son, 19, carter, born Slimbridge
John Newman, wife's son, 7, scholar, born Glouc, Bristol
George Lord, son, 1, born Slimbridge

Update, I was wrong on the 51 census, he was 42 not 62.

There's this family in Birmingham:
1841 census
Lord St., Birmingham, Warwickshire
William Lord, 35, butcher
Elizabeth, 40
Daniel Davies, 20, wood turner
Henry Davies, 23, wood turner
Joseph Davies, 17
Catherine Davies, 16
(Female? can't make out name, Louisa?) Davies, 10
Edith Davies, 7
William Lord, 8 months
As far as I can see they were all not born in county and for William Lord, butcher I think it says not born in country. (Not what he said in 1851!)

I just can't find them in 1841. I've tried every trick in the book!

1851 census
Cambridge, Slimbridge, Gloucestershire
William Lord, head, 62, butcher
Betth, wife, 54
William. son, 11
All born Slimbridge.
(His age is transcribed as 42, I think it looks more like 62 but could be wrong.)

Thank you Margaret.
Thank you for looking at my request.

I would really like the full 1851 census details of William Lord and his family please eg: their place of birth, address occupations (see below).

1851 England Census to finish
Address: Slimbridge
William Lord, head, mar, age 42,abt 1809, born Slimbridge
Betsy Lord, wife, mar, age 54,
William Lord, age 11,

Household schedule number: 40
Registration district: Dursley
Sub-registration district: Wotton
ED, institution, or vessel: 4a
Civil Parish: Slimbridge
County/Island: Gloucestershire
Country: England

If possible I would also like to find the family on the 1841 census to. I believe that William married either Elizabeth Beard or
Elizabeth Davies in 1837 (Oct-Nov-Dec Gloucester (1837-1937) Gloucestershire). So they should be married in 1841. I don't know if they had any children before William in 1842.

Thank you for your help.
