Following Sue's success with the 1901 census I now know that Alfred Berry and his wife Clara were both 38 in 1901.

They only had children with them born after 1891 but this marriage

This is a more complicated one to work out relationships. Both Joseph and Mary Kitson are deemed son and daughter in law, as are the four eldest Farrars.

I'm thinking therefore that it is actually what we would now class as "step" children, and that Mary and the Farrars are children of Sarah by an earlier marriage.

Think you need marriage cert to find out name of father and his occupation

Firstly thank you Diane for alerting me to tha fact that you all have been so busy in my absence.
Thank you all for what you have found. Like Maureen I was puzzling over the two likely Alberts in the 1881, as neither of them mention Greetland. However, having wandered in that area in the past I know Barkisland is next door so Edward and Martha are the preffered parents for Albert.

Thanks again for all your efforts - now I have to put them all in the tree!
