I would be grateful if someone could look up the details of Mary Jane Snaith born 1860 in Bitchburn Durham.
I have had a lot of info regarding her family but it doesn't tie in with her marriage cert.
Everybody tells me her father's name was John Snaith, born in Barnard Castle but her marriage cert, has Thomas, the next name is either James then Snaith or it is Jameson.
Any help would be appreciated.
She married in 1880 to Thomas Sudron in Ryhope.
Regards,
Ray.

Hi! Andy,
Thanks for your time, everything you found I already have so I am wondering if my Mary Jane is a different one born somewhere other than Bitchburn.
Her marriage cert.definitely has Thomas as her father's first name.Unless this was a stepfather or something. If her father was deceased it would state that on cert.
Regards,
Ray.

Are there any clues on marriage cert? For instance names of witnesses?

There is also the slim chance that the marriage record was transcribed wrong. She married Thomas and the same nmae was copied as father as well.

Doh!

Just seen I'd pulled a record for Mary A, when should have been Mary J.

IF I had the right one in 1891 this looks very much like Mary Jane in 1881 living with her in-laws, Thomas & Jane Sudron with her baby Hannah who became Annie in 1891. Her husband Thomas is missing though.
1881 census
27 Cecil St., Stockton, Durham
Thomas M. Sudron, head, 57, general labourer, born London
Jane, wife, 57, born Witton le Wear
William, son, single, 17, general labourer, born Stockton
Mary J., dau-in-law, married, 21, born Newbottle
Hannah, grandau, 3 weeks, born Stockton
