Hi sue, thanks for that.
I had only searched a couple of years with Adolphus and hadn`t got that far yet, so thats great news thanks.
I`d be interested to see if he had any children that then could lead to Edna.
Thanks alot Sue from Bette x

Hi everyone,
As Jacqueline kindly suggested, I have now placed an advert in the local paper-
`The Leicester Mercury`, and the ad will be in the paper under `lost contact` on Wednesday and Saturday this week and will also be in the free papers too which I`m really hoping will bring in some good leads, fingers crossed.
Also Susan kindly found me the possible records of Edna`s Brother`s Marriage and Daughters Birth records too so I am going to send for those.
Thanks everyone for your continued support and input in this search for Edna,
Here`s hoping, Bette x

Hello again, I have searched the Marriage records for Shiela A Burbidge ( as above ) and so far have checked from the beginning of Jan 1957 ( she would be around 18 yrs of age ) up until end December 1965 but there were no entries.
Also I have ordered the 2 certificates above- Marriage of Adolphus F. Burbidge + Elizabeth Hall. Also Birth of Shiela A Burbidge.
Keep you posted when I receive the certificates and any news from the newspaper advert.
Thanks again, Bette x

Hi everyone,
I have received the 2 certificates that I sent for ( Edna`s Brother Adolphus` Marriage and possible Daughter ). Surprisingly it wasn`t her Brother Adolphus but her Father Adolphus` re- Marriage.
The details are-
Adolphus Burbidge + Elizabeth Francis Hall, Married at The Leicester Registry Office on 13th June 1936.
He was 65 + she was 52 yrs old.
He was a widower + she was a spinster.
His profession- cattle dealer + hers- Blank.
His residence at time of Marriage- 20 Melrose St
Hers- Brook House, Barkby.
His Fathers name- John Burbidge ( deceased )
Her Fathers name- Alfred Hall.
His Fathers profession- Tailor
Her Fathers profession- Butcher.
Also the advert has been in the Local newspaper- The Leicester Mercury on Wednesday and Saturday evenings last week, but so far I haven`t received any messages, but I suppose its still early days, fingers crossed on that one.
We thought about the Samaritans but when I checked out the website, it stated that they do not get involved if an adoption had taken place.
I have had a suggestion to check the Belgrave library to see if they have any historical information as alot of the addresses that have popped up seem to be from that area and as Edna was a shoe tree-er then maybe she could have worked at the BU shoe factory in that area ???
Other than that I have ran out of ideas as to how to find Edna. It seems that she has vanished off the face of the earth.
I will keep you posted on any incoming messages from the newspaper advert and I will check out the Belgrave library.
Thanks everyone for your valued support, speak to you soon, Bette x

Hi everyone, just to let you all know-

WE HAVE FOUND EDNA AT LAST- YIPPEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and I wanted to thank everyone that has helped me with my search over the last 3 months, it was all very much appreciated thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I couldn`t have done it without everyones help, you are stars !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the last entry, Sue sent me a pm and she had found Edna`s Death records ( which were not on the Genes records that I was searching as I had gone through the whole lot in all 3 of her known surnames-Burbidge, Webster + Moore, from 1930 when Mum was born up until present day ) and even when Sue gave me the date, volume and page number, I triple checked to see where I had missed it and it definitately wasn`t there which I cannot understand. It was listed on www.thegenealogist.co.uk where susan found it but not Genes ???
At one point Kathryn B found an entry for a John B Mackie on Ancestry.com that I couldn`t find on Genes, are there bits missing ????
Anyway the main thing now is that we have located her. She died on the 18th October 1943 in Leicester, at a very young age of 30 and is buried in an unmarked grave in Belgrave cemetery in Leicester and we are going to visit her grave this week.
I am so pleased that now my Mum can put all of this behind her and she feels satisfied that she now knows where her Mum is although it is sad that she did die and so young. For a brief period there we thought Edna could still be alive. It was nice while it lasted.
We thought that we had found another Brother- for my Mum from Edna`s 2nd Marriage to John William Moore but unfortunately he was unrelated. We don`t know yet if Edna had anymore children? wouldn`t it be great if she did.

We tried to find out if Adolphus junior had Married and had any kids but unfortunately he died in the June quarter of 1917 in Leicester. He was only 5 years old as he was born in September 1911.
