The missing children are:

Michelle,

This is the correct family,
Yes thanks for that, but I already have them pre 1861, and the children that I know survived from 1871 onwards..... Iv`e always wondered if they simply "missed" them off the 1861..... though how you can have that many children and "forget" about them seems impossible. I should have said William and Mary both died in Sep. 1861, so if you look on a later census you won`t find them, I also beleive John Henry and Emily died just before their parents though I do not have the certs. to prove that, though they should all have been alive at the time of 1861 census.

Thanks again
Nicky

Michelle, thank you so much for all your hard work, the family in 1841 is William Adam with his parents and siblings, I already have that I also have the death details for John henry and Emily in 1861 , i just hadn`t ordered the certs yet ,but am pretty sure thats them, the family you have in 1861.......intresting as you say the names match but the ages don`t..... but grandfather may not have been very good on ages { presuming he was the one who provided info to the census taker} so will have a closer look at this, if it is them "staying with grandad" it will at least account for 3 of them. William Adam died from Phisitis {TB} shortly after what looks like 2 of their children....... Mary then commited suicide 5 days after her husbands death..... she must have been in a bad way to leave 4 children with no parents.....Adelaide I have managed to trace on, she went on to marry and have many children, and Margaret {my Gr grandmother} went on to marry and have 8 children as well, so despite the awful tragedy in their childhood, they seem to have ended up ok.....I have never traced William or Mary Jane sucessfullly....... there are an awful lot of William Leslies and a few Mary Janes which would mean ordering quite a lot of certs. to try and get the correct ones, not a cheap hobby this family history! lol thanks again for your help, another pair of eyes always helps.

Michelle,

Realised as soon as I looked at it, that i have checked these children out before on the 1861....that is William Adams father with his brother John who married Kate/Catherine jones in 1854 in Warrington, and I had previously found the 3 childrens births all in warrington in 1854,1857 and 1859, the eldest Margaret has a middle name Atherton which is also the middle name of one of William Adams sisters, so thanks again but this is not MY missing Leslie children, but it is their cousins.
