Hi,

I'm looking for the occupation of FRANCIS WOLSTENHOLME aged 52 in 1861 in York, Walmgate. Would anyone be able to help at all please?

Also on the same name an ALFRED WOLSTENHOLME in 1841 aged 30 Yorks E R - York
1851-WOLSTENHOLME ALFRED 40 York, Skelton
Does anyone know if he had a family at all?

Many thanks

Naomi

Carver in wood, local preacher.

! Took a bit to decipher that one!

... heh, I knew there were probably about a dozen of us frittering away our time there. ;)

Looks like Carver in wood, Local Purchaser

I think you are probably right, preacher not purchaser

I think it says

Carver in Wood, Local preacher

Andy

Edit. Four of us can't be wrong, despite the writing and out of focis image!

Right above Francis is John, aged 67,

- carver in wood stone master employing 1 journeyman

who could be nephew John in same household,

- carver in wood & stone

and I'll wait and see whether someone else has got Alfred!

... seems not.

In 1851 it's just him and wife Elizabeth. Ditto in 1841, in St Maurice.

Hi Sylvia,

It might be however most of the family seemed to be pretty lodged in York city, I'll have a look into it.

Thanks for your help

Naomi
