EMMA- Free BMD site The above site is great because it is free, on-line and it gives you the GRO reference so that you can order Certificates from PRO or Southport. If when you get a result, you click on page number, it will also give you the other names on that page number, so in the case of marriages, you MAY find the other partner. This is NOT guaranteed however because of the way the records are transcribed. If you know the partners name already though, it can sometimes confirm that at least you are looking at the right marriage, especially when one of them has a very common name. Bear in mind it is far from complete. You can also look at graphs on the site which show you what sort of coverage there is for a particular year. Some years are great others have hardly anything.
