Yes it is good to get the cards done. I have cut down quite a lot from a few years ago.

Oh the rain is back :-|

I have writers cramp tonight, but I am pleased the cards are more or less done

LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Dec 2014 21:58

The wind is howling down the chimney at the moment, so we have turned the TV up

The weather can be very changeable in Hobart so you have to take advantage of the sun when it's out.

Nothing exciting today Linda. I've completed my Christmas shopping and now I need to do my Christmas cards. I'm running late with those :-( Thankfully I don't need to write a newsletter to send with our cards. You and Persie have spurred me on, Linda :-)

Yesterday I had lunch with a friend who I haven't seen for awhile. That was nice and relaxing.

Good Morning Sue,

Sitting in the sun drinking coffee sounds wonderful :-D

the cup would be blown out of his hand here :-(

Good morning Sue.

Have you lots of exciting things planned for today?

SueMaid Report 10 Dec 2014 21:38

Hello everyone :-)

Gloomy here although dry...at the moment. Just had a phone call from my son in Hobart. He said he is sitting outside with his coffee and the sun is shining. He likes to ring early before he starts his day - a habit from way back. I don't mind because I just like to chat with him.

OH is watching Michael Portillo

Tecwyn Report 10 Dec 2014 21:29

I'm sure I've seen that Bricklayers Story as a comedy sketch on tv a long time ago.

I am watching "The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies"

Remember the case well, and felt so sorry for that man who was obviously being stitched up.

Obvious to me that they'd got it wrong.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Dec 2014 21:19

Ah, yes, I have read the bricklayer before

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Dec 2014 21:14

Hmm, now I would never describe Fairthingy as gorgeous and I will ot be holidaying there, I prefer to keep my feet dry

I will have to google that man now

I am wondering who Gerard Hoffnung is?

That little dog doesn't bark here, so that is not a problem. I can't see anything wrong with the dog. She is a little too busy for me, but that's because she's young.
I think it was just a miss match - after six weeks? :-( Get a cat :-D

Sylvia we are having huge waves here because of the gales. I am near the sea, but far away enough to be safe - and I could always evacuate up the mountain if the sea was in the kitchen :-D :-D

There is a " gorgeous" little village near here called Fairthingy that Linda is familiar with. That is below sea level, but the Welsh Government have announced that they are not prepared to spend any money on sea defences, so nature will have to take it's course. The sea will win in the end.

Linda is taking her next holiday there :-D :-D :-D

Hello Sylvia, the weather here is dreadful as well, but it is December, so we can't expect much better

Are you off for coffee soon?

Sue .................. sending flowers is a great idea. Thank you very much.

It is raining again here ............... the 3rd day of "Pineapple Express" storms coming in in sequence from the Pacific. The storms are now combined with what they seem to be now calling King Tides, ie the highest tides of the winter season.

Today was the first day of those tides, and they continue until Christmas.

Some of the low lying areas around the sea, the Bay and the rivers are being watched very very carefully, and sand bags are to the ready.

If people will build houses right on the seashore ....... what do they expect????

we're OK, Jack :-D

We've just about finished our cards. I have about 5 of my own to send out, and several email cards to send ........................ and I'm madly trying to sort out all the stuff we / I need to take away with us

LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Dec 2014 20:09

I hope that you manage to get everything done Persie

Please cover yourself up before Tec arrives here, it isn't seem;y to be dressed as you are :-0

I wait till Nigel writes his Christmas Missal, maybe Mistle, more likely Missile... anyway I wait for him to come up with some sort of carry on about everything and then I send it to my PC and tweak it, add my personal bits and remove what I don't want to say.... that is not plagiarism if I do that or so I tell myself.

I am not familiar with your stairs or landing Tec.. but wondered if you could use the Gerard Hoffnung method as in the Bricklayer..

I believe that little dog with every bit of care and attention and proper training would desist with barking when someone came to the door.. It is an easy fix. My friend's daughter trains dogs, even her own two dogs do as they are told (most of the time).

I am sitting here in my towel having just had my shower as we will shortly head off to Auckland.. the day is miserable and damp with rain on and off.

Have a list of to dos on the way and I have to call in to a friend on the way back.. try to cover all bases when one ventures forth or fifth in the case of Victor Borge.

Cheers Persie

Bah humbug indeed :-D

I finished the cards, I just need to buy another pack, but they are for neighbours, so don't need to go yet

Tomorrow I will go and take a mortgage out to buy stamps and get them in the post.

It is bitterly cold outside so I am glad I did not go to the cinema this afternoon. OH went but said it was boring. In any case my brother dropped in for a coffee on the way past. so it was nice to see him

Sue would have moved the wheelchair, had I asked, but as I am apparently a cantankerous old goat, I don't like asking unless it's absolutely necessary. Prefer to have a go first - I usually get there.

Good luck with the Christmas cards. I haven't started mine yet, and keep putting it off :-( but I must do it or Christmas will be upon us, and no one will get a card.

I haven't put my Christmas tree up yet, though people have around me have. I refuse to take part in this Christmas madness from September onwards.
Bah humbug - next week is soon enough.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Dec 2014 15:30

Why didn't you ask Sue next door to pop the wheel chair up for you, silly man :-|

I hope you aren't hopping with your walker, you know you are not supposed to.

Anyway why are you disturbing me, I am busy writing Xmas cards. I did some this morning and am trying to finish the rest of the ones for posting this afternoon. Why does everything take twice as long as it should do? I do a round Robin note complete with family photo's for some of the cards to save having to write the same thing over and over again, I can then write personal touches. Of course the ink cartridge ran out and the new one wouldn't work when I put it in. It took ages to et it sorted out.

Back to the grind :-(
