Ah yes, I looked it up. Rosie Thomas....... White. Read and enjoyed some time ago.

I have read and enjoyed that one too. Although I think her two best are the Kasmir shawl and one about a mountain, can't remember what it was called will have a think.

Afternoon Bookworms :-D I am just near the end of The Kashmir Shawl and I thoroughly enjoyed it (thanks to AnnGlos who recommended it!). So have waiting for me, next on my Kindle list...Iris and Ruby by the same author, Rosie Thomas. Has had good reviews so here's hoping.

Still reading Nicholas and Alexandra, don't know what it is
with this book but still not getting anywhere fast according
to the small amount of percentage showing. Saying that I am
enjoying it and learning more about this unfortunate family and
their private lives.

I finished Philippa Gregory's "The Wise Woman". This one isn't based so much on real characters as some of her other books although it is set in Tudor times. The story revolves around the clash of papacy, Henry VIII's new protestantism and in particular witchcraft. There is a sexual element which is quite important to the story but I thought some of the descriptions could have been a bit less explicit. Not my favourite Philippa Gregory.

I'm now reading something much gentler - Alexander McCall Smith's "The Double Comfort Safari Club", one of his No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series.

I wanted to something different to read so was recommended Great British Wit by Rosemarie Jarski......

Famous or funny sayings by British people....I would never even consider this book but after reading a few pages I have to say some of the sayings are very funny :-D :-D

I have finished Ursula Under but I didn't really enjoy it, too much information crammed into 476 pages of very small print. Little girl falls down a mine shaft and story of the rescue, but mainly the book is taken up with the back story which starts in China with an alchemist and goes through all her ancestors stories one by one, she is part Chinese and part finn. I have to admit to skimming through parts just to get the gist. The main story was good though.

I've finished Various Pets Alive and Dead, I enjoyed it - some very funny moments.Now I've gone back to Edward Rutherford's London - I read sections of it now and again between books. I'm currently on the Hampton Court chapter. I love the book, but it's a bit too much to read all at once.

Still persevering with Nicholas and Alexandra :-D

This is a true story of WWII agents Eileen and Jacqueline Nearne.
I love to read anything to do with SOE, Vera Atkins, WWII so this is right up my street.....

My Nan does that, also we take her puzzle books and we catch her looking at the back for the answers ......when we ask her why she does it she says she doesn't :-) :-)

I'm definitely a 'book' person! OH has a Kindle but he still buys books now and again. I always have a book in mind for Christmas, which is usually a hardback and I love to unwrap this - not the same having it 'downloaded'. I also read lots of factual books with photos, not sure how well these come across on a Kindle.

Do you know, I have never done that BC.
