The one thing I miss when I am reading on my Kindle...is reading the last page! :-D i always did that way back in book reading days!

I do find the kindle good for holidays and weekends away. I think it is good to have the choice, and I still get pleasure out of buying books. With the kindle I miss looking at the back cover to see what I am about to read. If you download a lot of books as I do, when you come to read them it is difficult to know what each one is about. I like to have an idea of the story before I start to read. sometimes I may be wanting to read something light and sometimes something a bit 'heavier'.

I know that Kindles are convenient, and save taking a pile of books when travelling,but I could never use one. I adore books - I love the feel and smell of them, browsing for ages in a bookshop, and swopping them with friends.
Mind you, without them my house would look a lot less cluttered!

Im just for my kindle now, never read a "Proper book with pages". Kindle goes everywhere with me, and I mean everywhere. I love reading while soaking in the tub.I always put it in my handbag.

I alternate BC because I still have loads of paperbacks. and I still love the feel of a real book. One thing I do like about a paperback is that it is easy to flick pack to check on something. I don't find that easy with the Kindle. Of the two books I read last week, one was paperback and one was Kindle. usually my paper backs are charity shop impulse buys. But this latest one has the smallest print for a book I have seen in ages, this one was my daughters and I am waiting to hear if she actually read it and liked it. if she didn't it might get abandoned.

I still like "real" books as well as the Kindle, which is great for travelling etc.

It's partly a cost thing. Often the free or cheapish books for Kindle aren't the ones I want to read and the ones I really enjoy can be quite expensive. I've just had a look on Amazon at 3 books I'm thinking of getting - Kindle prices £8.36, £8.55 and £4.99. But I can buy the paperbacks for £5.19, £6.49 and £3.99 or get them from the library for free!

I am the same BC...don't like the feel of a *real book* in my hand now it feels awkward and huge !!!! Got some crackers on my book shelf which I'll probably take back down the charity shop now....

Am curious, and after reading Ann's post .. since I got my Kindle I have not read a 'real' book! This is partly because it is so easy to slip Kindle into my handbag when travelling and partly because I can adjust the print to my liking without searching for glasses. But I almost feel guilty when I look at the unread books on my shelf. :-D All you Kindlers, have you also deserted the things with pages that rustle?

I am struggling to read Ursula Under by Ingrid Hill. Can't get into it, not helped by the fact that the print font is very small and hurts my eyes.

I've settled on reading Roma by Steven Saylor.......it's a history of Rome through the ages in fiction form.through the eyes of it's inhabitants...only a few chapters in and it's ok so far.....not hooked yet but there's still time..........

Have just read My Secret sister about two girls, one adopted and one brought up by an abusive 'father' who beat her with the buckle end of his belt. It charts the search by Jenny Lee smith ( a British woman's Open Champion -golf-) to find out if she had a sister. Very well done and even genes gets a mention.

I have also just read Foorsteps in the Sand by Sarah Challis. this was an excellent read, couldn't put it down.

Just finished Footsteps in the sand by Sarah Challis which I thought was well worth reading. And also my secret sister which is a true story and another good read.

Maybe it is time I read one :-)

I've only read one book byPhilipa Gregory, Mersey. It was called Wideacre, but it was quite a few years ago. Haven't read any of her Tudor ones yet.

I have never read a Philippa Gregory book

Muffy am still reading it but getting nowhere fast.

Well I've given up on Nicholas and Alexandra...more info than fiction..which is good in it's place...but not what I fancy reading at the mo.

Have no idea what to read next.........

Finished "Thursdays in the Park" but was a bit disappointed. It was good to see a book where the main characters were not under 40s, but, if I am honest, I found it a bit boring.

Am now going to start on "The Wise Woman" by Philippa Gregory.
