I read mine in the bath now Ann....I've mastered the art of holding it over the sides so if it drops it drops on the mat and not in the water !!!

:-D

If I really want to read something and not wait I will happily buy the paperback if it is cheaper than on the kindle. I quite like to read a proper book sometimes, and you can actually read it in the bath which is a plus.

Just finished The Paris Wife by Paula McClain, really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who has read and enjoyed Hemingway.

Now reading Thursdays in the Park. :-)

Helloooo Bookworms :-D

I have started to read Lynchcliffe Chronicles Volume One.....It was £1 on kindle hopefully a bargain...

September 1891

When a new mother tragically dies her grief-stricken widower places his daughter, Margaret, up for adoption with his childless employers, Lord & Lady Trevelyan, and she grows up not knowing her real father is living on the same estate.

April 1912
.
When Lord & Lady Trevelyan are declared missing as a result of the tragedy of RMS Titanic Margaret is thrown on the mercy of relatives she had never known existed.

Margaret struggles to adjust to her new life and relatives. Then, following an instant mutual attraction, she begins to develop a relationship with chauffeur Lewis Franklin, who lost his own nephew on the Titanic.

Then secrets emerge. Secrets only previously hinted at. A spiteful grudge then leads to murder.

Margaret and the Lynchcliffe family must steel themselves to face the future while Franklin and Margaret must decide if they can have a future together

A novel about sex, secrecy, betrayal, sibling rivalry, family relationships and intrigue which will captivate the mind and keep the reader enthralled from first page to last.

So lets see what happens, will let you know ;-)

Same feelings here Muffy, why do we pay VAT on books through kindle,
they do not use paper etc and if supermarkets can sell cheaper why not on kindle.
Like you am waiting for a Philippa Gregory to come down in price through kindle.

Am still reading Peter Ustinov's autobiography and enjoying it.

I'm still reading Sun In Splendour...but got really hopeful yesterday when I saw the new Philippa Gregory in Asda for £3.50..thought it might mean I could get it on Kindle for about a fiver instead of the tenner it's been since release..but no.

Now I'm torn..do I just go and get the book as I REALLY want to read it...knowing that all the way through I'll be fed up because I'd prefer to read it on my Kindle....or do I wait !..... Wish they'd stop with this making *proper* newer books cheaper to buy..I'm sure there must be good reasons I don't know about that make this vital...I just find it annoying when I'm waiting on a newer book.........

Just finished Dream of Darkness by Reginald Hill. It's the story of an 18 year old girl whose mother was killed in Uganda when the girl was 5. She is looking for the truth about her mother's death and her father's involvement in the regime of Idi Amin.

I normally like Reginald Hill and have read most of his books: the Dalzeil and Pascoe novels, the Joe Sixsmith novels, and his psychological thrillers. Not so sure about this one. I couldn't warm to the central character much. However, it was well written and kept me guessing who was a goodie and who was a baddie and I was surprised by the ending.

Worth a read if you like the thriller/mystery type book.
