It might be a small proportion but I bet those 406 families were glad that they registered. |

Thanks for your responses. I had read a thread on this site that actually said that the Adoption Contact Register was a waste of time but, as you say, it would not exist if people did not use it. I just would have been interested to hear from someone that has gone down that route. At the end of the day I will use this facility in the first instance to see if there is a match. Many thanks. |

If you're looking for birth or adopted family, you do need to use all sites or search facilities available. |

What makes you think no one is registering? I have seen people on this site say they are going to use the service and I'm sure the service would close down if it wasn't used. |

I do understand that both parties need to want to make contact but there is no evidence that people are actually registering for this service. That is what I am trying to find out as if no one is registering then you are never going to get a match. |

It's not that the register doesnt work but it depends if the adopted child wants to find info on their birth family so they register too . |

I would be interested to hear if anyone has been successful in finding an adopted person through the GRO Adoption Contact Register. I am considering registering in the hope of finding my nephew who was adopted in 1961/62. I have heard varying reviews so thought I would seek someone who has used the service successfully. |
