Hi Everyone

Sorry I have been away from thread for so long but I do not seem to have enough hours in the day lately.

I am still looking after our neighbours house at the moment ..he is still in Hospital ,it will be three weeks today he is still not well.

Putting up the outside lighting at the moment we have half of them up another three sets on top of the roof to go but the grandsons will do that this week so we can turn them all on this weekend with a bit of luck.

Going to try to finish my Christmas shopping this week if i can then it is just the food to get.
The way we shop at Christmas you would think the shops are not going to open again for a month,so silly isn't it.

It is heating up now buit still very strange weather 37c yeaterday 25c to day with rain :-S

Washing at the moment be back later :-)

Hi Sue
xx

and everyone
xx

Arthur ........... those kittens sound like a lot of fun!

My daughter and her husband got a brother and sister several years ago ............... and they have had loads of fun with them. It must be 8 or 9 years ago since they got them. I will be seeing them in about 2 weeks.

We got back from our little trip late on Friday afternoon ................... it was a good trip, but wet! It rained almost the whole time. We stayed in the house on the lot next door ............ so had to walk through the forest 2 or 3 times a day.

Poor R though is deteriorating ............... he is on a 3rd lot of drugs that is "hoped might help him". The other 2 didn't work for various reasons. This one seems to send him out into outer space at times. I think they might take him off it soon ......... he will be seeing one doctor this week, and another one next week.

On Saturday night, OH and I went out for dinner to our very favourite restaurant, and had a lovely meal. That was our treat, and beginning of Christmas for us ...............

.......... we leave Tuesday next week on the train to our daughter's house. We are working hard to get everything ready!!

I have all the presents, though not wrapped. Won't do that until we get over there.

OH made the Christmas puddings last month ............. we have to take one small one with us.

I have done the draft Christmas letter, OH is checking it.

We have the Christmas cards .......... and hope to get the card signed, letter into card, envelope addressed, sealed and posted before we leave. It is quite a marathon to do it ........... we send out over 100 cards.

OH is busy making Quince jelly to give out as Christmas presents to workmates and others ............... he figures we need 50 - 60 jars!

I'm still trying to catch up on threads on GR

The train journey will take us 6 full days ................... we leave Vancouver at 8:30 pm on the 11th. Arrive in Toronto at 9:30 am on the 15th. Take another train to Montreal, arriving at about 3 pm. Then we have to stay the night in Montreal, and take a train at about 6:30 pm on the 16th, arriving in Halifax at about 5 pm on Monday the 17th.

Then we return on the train, leaving Halifax on December 28, and arriving in Vancouver on January 2nd. New Year will be "somewhere on the Prairies", between Saskatoon and the Alberta border.

It will be fun!

Take care everyone

We are not allowed to carry holiday over this year - so I seem to be doing a 3 day week till the end of the year - not from choice as i really wanted to take the 3 extra days over just incase the "White Stuff" does make an apprearance.

Must away as its getting to Crickly Hall time - no that i want to watch it before i go to sleep.

I still love Strictly Come Dancing - lets have some more chat like we did before

Hello everyone,
Just popped in to say I am still in the land of the living though I have got another cold and sore throat.
How time flies, it will be a year next week since my dear Mr Grumpy died,Don't know if its normal but I still find it hard to talk about him, I am trying hard to make the most of things but not finding it easy. Something nice to look forward to, tomorrow Claire, my daughter is coming to spend three days in the island with me.
Yes Cynthia I still watch Strictly Come Dancing, I love Lisa, she is such fun.
Must have something to eat now, don't want trouble with the diabetis.
I would love to. See the little kittens Arthur, perhaps I should get myself one.
Love to you all

Sounds like you are having a lot of fun with those kittens Arthur.....and congratulations on becoming the Gt. Uncle of twin girls.... <3

Poor Reece, you really have had a bad time haven't you :-( Hope the following weeks find you recovering your strength and feeling lots better. Don't chance going out in this bitter weather though. Sending a gentle (hug) <3 <3

Sally in the wars too?? Dear me, hope you don't go overdoing things either. Take care..... <3

I've had a difficult couple of days. My daughter with Asperger's has a broken boiler and the engineer still hasn't been to fix it. She has a flat with a housing association but I'm not impressed with the delay - it's now been well over 24 hours since she reported it. :-|

I've taken her a little blow heater so she is managing to keep one room reasonably warm but the rest are so cold because it's so bitterly cold out. :-(

I really, really hope that we don't get snow..........I get depressed just thinking about it!! :-(

I wonder if Evelyn is watching Strictly Come Dancing this year? I remember how excited we both got on this thread when Chris Hollins was the winner....... :-D :-D

Take care in this weather everyone.......Cx <3

Both Nicki and Vicki have 4 white feet and bibs.

Vicki ahs more white on her feet and her coat is now acquiring a very marked pattern of stripes down her back - she has silver lines running from behind her neck to the tip of her tail.

Both have long tapering tails - apparently from their Burmese mother.

I agree that I am very lucky to be able to spend so much time with them whilst they are young. It is exciting to see the improvements over time.

They go on Tuesday for their first set of injections and the vet's assessment on their progress.

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 2 Dec 2012 07:24

Just from the photos - Is Vicki the one with the little white bib on her chest & white socks - whereas Nicki has a lot less white on her & is that a black sock.

Its lovely having animals around they are so funny at times - they all have their own little characters.

Your very lucky to be able to spend time with them while they are so young - when we retire we would love to get a puppy.

Take care <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Vicki looks lovely - love the curly tail - looks like she is going to pounce at any min

Now we need another one of the two together - they do seem to look very alike

Here is Vicki - she is definitely more adventurous and has reached the second stage of their scratching/climbing frame (4 foot off the ground)

My nephew and his wife have just had twin girls - Clara and Harriet. They were born slightly early as Mum is tiny, but both doing well.

Arthur how lovely - they look beautiful - cant wait to see Vicki next - they looked so cute together on their little bed

It's 1 December - this year has gone so fast

While at junior school we learnt Silent night in French & German to help us understand the languages better & I think it did - I will always remember that Christmas.

Silent Night was written on Christmas Eve in 1818 in Oberndorf, Austria. One common story of this carol was that the organ at St. Nicholas Church was broken. Others claim that there is no evidence for this and that Joseph Mohr, the assistant pastor of the church, requested the instrumentation simply because he loved guitar music. In any event, Mohr had written a poem "Stille Nacht" in 1816. On December 24, 1818 he gave the poem to his friend the church organist, Franz Gruber. Gruber immediately composed the melody and arranged it for two voices, choir, and guitar. It was finished in time to be performed that night at the Midnight Mass. By 1955, Silent Night had become the most recorded song of all time.

Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Alles schläft; einsam wacht
Nur das traute heilige Paar.
Holder Knab' im lockigten Haar,
Schlafe in himmlischer Ruh!

Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Gottes Sohn, o wie lacht
Lieb' aus deinem göttlichen Mund,
Da uns schlägt die rettende Stund'.
Jesus in deiner Geburt!

Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Die der Welt Heil gebracht,
Aus des Himmels goldenen Höhn,
Uns der Gnaden Fülle läßt sehn,
Jesum in Menschengestalt!

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born

Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth "

Douce nuit, sainte nuit,
Tout s'endort au dehors,
Le saint couple seul veille
Sur l'enfant qui someille.
Au ciel l'astre reluit

Douce nuit, sainte nuit,
Quel bonheur dans les coeurs,
Quand les bergers entendent
Les saints anges qui chantent:
Il est né, le sauveur

Douce nuit, sainte nuit,
Jetez-vous à genoux.
Bergers, c'est le Méssie,
Jésus, né de Marie,
Dieu, fait homme pour nous

Douce nuit, sainte nuit,
Fils de Dieu, tu souris.
Voilà enfin cette heure attendue
Qui annonce notre salut,
Ta naissance, Jésus Christ

Just to get us in the Christmas spirt = love & peace at Christmas & for all of us a bright & refreshing new year = hopefully on a more positive & prosperous footing

The kittens are progressing well. I managed to weigh them today using a large basin on my scales.

They have both put on weight: Nicki the darker of the two was 530gm, is now 754gm Vicki was 530+ is now 836gm.

Both are very mischievious and have boundless energy - wish I had more.

Will post a photo of Nicki as my profile picture and change for Vicki in 2 days time.
Nicki has strange facial whiskers - look as if they have been cut, but I am assured they are natural. to compensate she has impressive eyebrows. Vicki is the exact opposite.

Vicki has inherited more of her mother's burmese features and has a most unusual coat - beginning to look a lot like 'tweed'. It will be interesting to see how it develops.

Nice to see you again Sally and I hope you've been keeping well.

It's good to hear that your neighbour is making progress after his terrible ordeal Sue. Poor man, it will take a while for him to recover emotionally too I should think.

Rain? It certainly has put some down this week and I feel so sorry for those poor folks in the SW. How dreadful to have raw sewage floating through your home :-0 :-( :-| It's dreadful at any time of year but, just before Christmas must make it worse.

I saw a young couple who had lost many treasured and precious items - maybe not in value but precious in sentiment. The sort of things that money can't buy - felt so, so, sorry for them. It's really depressing. :-(

My Christmas decorations (for what they're worth) don't go up until the week before Christmas and come down just after New Year . How people can cope with having decorations up as early as November beats me :-S

I've nearly finished my Christmas cards and, in fact, took them to the hairdressers with me last week......thought I may as well do something useful whilst I was there! I'm going to have to cut my list down as the postage is so expensive these days.

Glad to hear your kittens are doing well Arthur. Will you be putting a tree up or is it too much of a risk with such a lively pair around?

The church Christmas Fair went very well and raised £3,500 :-D :-D :-D My coffee stall won the trophy for being the best stall :-D My granddaughter, who has helped me for the last three years, was absolutely over the moon! I wouldn't mind, but the trophy is quite grotesque in my eyes but she thought it was wonderful!

It is a 'themed' event and this year the theme was 'Cops and Robbers'. We were the Cop Shop Coffee Stop and I had bought some inexpensive police women's hats to wear. The Brownie leader and her husband, dressed up as a Policewoman and a criminal - complete with black and white striped prisoner type suit. They looked brilliant and were such sports.

All in all, it was a very good event. Lots of people think that church life is dull and boring and yes, in some places, I know that's the case. Not where we are though! A classroom is set aside for 'staff' lunches and I was impressed to find out that over 100 'staff' lunches had been ordered - that was before the meals (hot pot or turkey salad) were prepared for the public!! Amazing and great fun :-D

Well, I'd better stop wittering on and go and get my shower........

Much love to you all Cx <3 <3

Definitely too early to decorate the house for Christmas.

Glad the neighbour is making good progress Sue.

Really feel for the people who live in areas at flood risk, and glad that I checked out where I live before buying the house. Hope that an agreement can be reached between the Government and the Insurers to insure houses at high risk.

The kittens are making good progress - only wish I had their energy.

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 26 Nov 2012 12:50

Loads of rain & very very windy here in the South East of the Uk - we were lucky & escaped most of the floods - the main A road in & out of the town had a big flood up to the floor level of most cars.

The scaffolding on the building site behind us stayed upright - with the occasional little wobble, a lot of the new "cladding" (well it looks like polystyrene with black bags on it ) - on the walls came down & was hanging off the building on Saturday - hanging around on the scaffold poles.

Seems like the whole world has more rain & wind than it can deal with.

Lovely to see you back again Sally

Hope all our absent friends are keeping well <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Glad to hear your neighbour is improving Sue

Is it only me - or do you think its too early to decorate the house for Christmas?

Two in my street put all their decorations up over the weekend
