Hello All,
Its me again still playing with my I Pad, should be doing housework but dont find that very appealing.
Where has everyone gone, was it something I said? have I upset you all?, hope not as I wouldnt do that for all the world.
We have had a nice sunny day here in the islands, I have been to have my hair done and am feeling somewhat human.
Guess I had better start cooking as my tummy tells me its time for food.
I will pop back soon just incase anyone is about.

Hi Everyone

Evelyn very happy to hear your Birthday went well and you got some good pressie's,I must admit all these new computer things scar me to death,you are much gamer than me Evelyn.

I have been reading some of the threads re the new look Genes and have entered my comments.
I have to say the new tree is slower and I don't like the new glare colour scheme,they have got the background a little better (with my help re turning down the brightness of my screen) I still think it could do with a bit more reducing.

I think I would rather have the bright Purple and the very bright green toned down a bit and that would do it for me.

As I said on my post on J..... thread a lot of the hype over the changes is just that we don't like changes and we get comfortable in what we already know so when someone comes a long and change things on us we don't like it.

I don't like changing what I have learnt myself so Ican see where he is coming from but he is very angry and that is not good for him ,Genes appears to be listing to what we are reporting to them so I suppose we just have to sit back and wait to see what if any they take on board.

Anyway not letting it spoil my day and stop me doing Genealogy ! :-D

We have another big storm coming in tonight and our Dau and hubby flying back from Bali tonight so I think they are in for a bad landing...will worry now until I physically see her again tomorrow.

Grandson and the dog have behaved very well while they have been with us but I shall be glad when I am free again.

Going to see if my newly acquired site of World FMP has anything on Diane.

Congrats to the Brits wonderfull Games so far, Aussies could have done a bit better but hey we can't be great all the time :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D only joking.

I am still playing with my I Pad, I am not very clever at closing down things and find that I have several open at once, if there is no X in the corner I am completely lost(is it an age thing)
Cynthia it would be wonderful if you would start up Dianes thread again,, I hate to feel that she is beating us all,I wonder what she was hiding?.
Must go and do some food shopping, I Pad wont do that for me.

An ipad!! Oh you lucky person Evelyn :-D :-D :-D :-D My grandchildren have them and they are so versatile and it's amazing what they can do.


My daughter is collecting old mobile phones for a charity which supports families with autism (she has Asperger's Syndrome). If she collects 185, she is eligible to claim an ipad. It would be brilliant for her because she loves that sort of technology and copes with it well. She's only got about 30 phones so far but we keep hoping.


So pleased your birthday went well Evelyn and it would be great to see you back on here again. If you want us to start up on Diane again, just say so and i will do another precis to put on your thread.


I am waiting for Debenhams to arrive and take away the chair/bed which is too cumbersome for us. Can't go out until they have been :-(

Never mind, it looks like a lovely day out there so I am grateful for small mercies. ........ :-D

Have been playing with the I Pad, it is such a clever gadget, I think I shall get used to it fairly quickly, I have a separate keypad which I find useful.

Life begins at 80!!!

Its me again.
Doggie is not for me, it is for my daughter and her family, I think her name is going to be Lexi, she is about 5 or 6 months old and I believe her to be an alsatian/collie cross, very nice natured animal and walks VERY well on a lead and is friendly towards humans and other dogs, I think she will make a super pet and will certainly be going to a good loving home. I had a good laugh at Lexi drinking water from a bottle, wish I lived closer then I could take her walkies
Lovely sunny day here today though a bit windy, the weather,not me.
Havent done much housework today but have spent a lot of time with my new toy (I Pad )
Feeling thirsty now, bet this I Pad doesnt make coffee.
Think I had better make my own coffee so cheerio.

What variety of Dog Evelyn - are you going to rename the "Doggie" or does he or she already have a lovely name - you are going to love having company - think of all those long walks & excited attention.

We would love anotehr dog - we both miss ours - trouble is we are never at home - so will have to wait until we retire.

My friend said to me the other day

I feel like that with our adopted cats - I seem to be at their beck & call all the time - sit down with food - "I want to come in" "feed me - FEED ME NOW" sit down again - "I want to go out - LET ME OUT NOW" I have to admit they are very demanding little creatures

Then they plonk themselves on your lap - "attention - attention now" splat witht he paw - "STOP STROKING ME NOW" Then they shove you off your seat because they want it , or jump on it as soon as you leave it.

Funny little things - should have seen the small fluffy one this morning - black with little white paws - looks adorable - must have walked through a spiders web - she looked so funny & sticky - would not let me clean her off - swore something awful when i tried to clean her up - then stomped out the house without breakfast - came back 5 mins later to eat the food - bypassed me in the hall with a swipe of the paw.

I would really miss them if they wern't there

Hello Everyone,
I have now returned from my travels, feeling rather giddy after all the buzzing about.
I am now the proud owner of an I Pad,I shall now have to teach myself how to use it, it seems like a natty little gadget.
I had a wonderful birthday with my family, we went to a lovely hotel for dinner and after our meal I was presented with a super birthday cake complete with candles (not 80 ) after I blew the candles out all the waiters gathered round and sand Happy Birthday for me, I was quite touched.
Claire took me to a dog rescue centre, she has been there on various occasions looking for the RIGHT dog, I think we have now found her,should everything go to plan I think the said canine will be moving in about 7 days from now.
I am watching for the postman to deliver my Lamingtons, my favourite snack.
Glad you all had a good time at the party, I shall do my best to come to the next one.

Cynthia - do you need a helping hand - I seem to have been busy - but have nothing to show for it. We could be workaholics together - BTW i am working Sunday morning - just for a change

From Midday Tuesday to 6pm yesterday (apart from going home on Tuesday) i spent the whole day trying to sort out a Car hire situation between the UK - USA & Southern Ireland - glad I am not paying the phone bill. I was on a call for over 3 hours at one point - let alone all the internet/email time.

I felt so demanding - send a little email to Ireland - "Call me now" & he did

Send a little email to a concierge in a hotel in San Francisco - "Urgent need to speak with you" & he called me.

I didn't realise I had such power & they were so sweet as well - It felt lovely having two men running after me all afternoon.

It has still continued on to today - feel like banging my head against a brick wall.

Then we have it all again next week when they change cars. aaaaaaaaaaagh :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S

Sue I still have my little faces - think there is something on suggestions about that too.

Must fly - in demand again

Thank You for that ,I have now got my icons back I just needed to tools ..compatibility and click there and it was fixed ...I have been at it all today trying to fix it .

A BIG THANKYOU TO CYNTHIA... What I would like to know is why Genes could not have told me that when I complained about it yesterday.

It is too bright for me not good for Glaucoma sufferers,I suppose I could always wear my sunglasses at the computer that would work ;-)

Susan had a thought re; your icons. This may not fix the Problem but worth checking out.
With Genes having re- vamped this Site they will have used the latest version of Java which allows you to view objects on web pages. It could be that your version of Java is to old. If you 'Google' Java you should be able to find a site to download a free version to update.

NIce to see you back again and I am so glad you like your new job...noticed you still have your Icons do you know what has happened to mine I wonder.

Very nice not having the kids at home any more but there are time when I mss them...I am one of those that like to be needed.

Sally I am sorry to hear you will not be posting anymore but i don't think you are on your own ...not a lot of people like the new site .
It does hurt my eyes after a while too....I am just sorry I do not have my faces anymore I hope they come back at some stage,they were there before they changed everything again.

Sorry about your eye problem Sally. I must say I like the new site - it's very fresh and modern. There is some advice on one of the threads on how to adjust the brightness.

Sue, Try going to Tools at the top of your page, go to compatibility settings and click. Gins put this advice on her thread. Hope it helps.

I did not realise how long it has been!

I am devastated that I missed out on a great Party :-( :-( :-(
Though It is wonderful to see that our venerable Robert has come out of his shell and that you are visiting the thread again Evelyn.

What an appalling thing to happen to your Mother in Law Susan. I hope she is okay now.

The Weather is cold and miserable here in NZ., I hate winter :-| The Arthritis in my knees is playing up. and working Evening shifts in my new job means I leave a warm house to go out in the Cold to start work at 5pm and then leave the warm Call Centre at 9pm and come back out to even more cold and darkness to go home. Subsequently I have been in a lot of pain with my Knees.

But apart from the Cold and the pain, I am enjoying my new Job very much and on my first performance review I got 85%, they only expect about 60-70% with new people, so I was absolutely delighted.
Not bad considering I Have had a phobia about phoning up strangers all my life and for the first week I was nearly physically sick for a couple of hours before leaving to go to work.

My 22 year old Son finally left home at the beginning of July. It is quite strange for OH and me to be on our own for the first time in 26 years. But we are enjoying the quiet and also the cheaper utility bills. Plus of course no longer having to wash every day. :-) :-)
