Born in Lowestoft in 1814 Henry Meekings and wife Martha nee Cooper had by 1846 moved to London where Henry became a policeman in Kennington area. Over the course of the census returns the "S" was dropped off the surname
His eldest son William Henry Meeking (b) 1846 married Harriet Batchelor.
Their 8 children born between 1870 and 1884 in Camberwell were..
William Henry, Henry J,Frederick Wm,Harriet Martha (m H.Wilkins in 1894), Louisa E, Charles,Thomas and Mabel
1901 census family lived at 88 Bristol Road,East Ham.
