i have found my grandmother on the 1901 census and it says she was 3 year old and was the grandaughter to the head of the house who was an edward carroll, married to sarah carroll, and there was also a william carol aged 21 who was sarah and edwards nephew, the census showed them at 16 oxford street nottingham, william was shown to be born in chelsea any one who could help it will be greatly appreciated x

You didn't actually tell us her name.

hi thank you prtland rose, sorry in my confusion i forgot to add my grandmas name, it is dorothy allen, i am very new to all this and dont know what to do next to find out more information about edward, sarah or william, and cant find a birth for dorothy allen as i would like to find out about her parents, thank you so much for your help it is very much appreciated

hi thank you for your help, my mum dosent know she thinks the a could have stood for annie, but she is not certain, i know she came to huddersfield to work in service she met my grandad at church and they were married but i dont know if they married in huddersfield or leeds i think huddersfield but my grandfather was originally from leeds his name was william brian stocks, he was younger than my grandma, he was born in 1916

hi could i just ask which reference you are refering to please, im sorry i am useless at all this, my grandma died september 1980, and my granfather died 14th april 1982

just had a look through some papers i have which isnt very many my grandma was born on christmas day but the year is not there although i do think it is 1897 to 1899

Who were their children? I'm not seeing any Stocks children with mother's maiden name Allen?

they didnt have any children of there own but they adopted my mum when she was 6 weeks old which was december 1943, my mother was born in ripon in a mother and baby home to a lady callled mary rowell who worked as a railway clerk and her father is thought to have been a policeman my mothers name at the time of birth was jill rowell, and after adoption her name became susan mary stocks

Found your grandfather. He died in Hudderfield and the informant gave his dob as 21/07/1914.
