Atkinson from India (Mary Atkinson)

Can anyone help? My Great grandmother Mary Atkinson was born in Madras India and I have hit a brick wall trying to find out who her parents and ancestors were. She married William Wren in 1879 at Canterbury, Kent, England and shows on the 1881 England Census as being born in India in 1853. She shows on the 1891 England census as being born in Madras India 1853.
William served in India as a private in the 14th Hussars and my Nanna Beatrice Wren b.1887 and one her sisters Florence Wren b.1884 were born in Lucknow and Trinmigherry, Tamil Nadu, India.
I seem to recall my nanna telling me when I was a boy that she had an Irish grandmother but I'm not sure if that came from the Atkinson or Wren side.

if you dont have her marraige cert if you order it on it should be her fathers name.
