Hello all you wonderful people. Could anyone help me with trying to find my GGGGrandfather JOHN EDWARD ATKINSON b.1801 Suffolk. He was a Parish Clerk and Grocer there in the 1871 Census but I dont know which church. He married Elizabeth Plume.in 1826 Thingoe Suffolk
I dont know how I can get back further, like his parents.

next step is usually a search on http://www.familysearch.org/

Extracted marriage record for locality listed in the record

and then when and where possible a trip to where the parish records are held to get a copy of the record

thanks heaps for that snowyjen,

I think the first family were the right ones because on the census in 1881 has Elizabeth as a widower. That would make John Death Dec 1879 seems likely which is what you gave me. thank you.
So it looks like the Plume family is more likely.
I am so happy with the Atkinson information also. thank you
