ATKINSON John John Atkinson married Phoebe CARTER and they had at least two children - ISABELLA and THOMAS. It is believed that John was originally from Hamsterley but the two children were christened at St Pauls Blackburn on 6th July 1824. As no other confirmed information can be found about John we have some doubts as to the correct identity of this John ATKINSON. We are given to understand that Atkinson is a common name in that locality but it is too much of a coincidence that the Hamsterley John Atkinson married a Phoebe Carter and these were the names recorded as parents of Isabella and Thomas when they were christened. We would dearly like to find out more about the Blackburn John Atkinson and if they had other children besides these two. Further, what happened to Isabella? Out Thomas migrated to Australia circa 1854. The puzzle just gets more complicated. Can anyone help?
