I am doing research on the Bamping family. My branch originally came from Liverpool then Salford/Pendleton/Eccles/Altrincham are of Manchester. My grandfather William Harry Oliver Bamping left home to join the Life Guards and never returned to the north but settled in London when he left the army. However it is interesting to find that there were Bampings in the London area back as far as the early 1800's. Does anyone know of the connection between the London Bampings and the northern ones?
