Hi I am looking for descendants of Neils Berg Basstian b 1795 in Norway married Anne Sky and migrated to Australia, settling in Tasmania. He had 2 sons Christopher and Walter. These two set up sheep runs in Tasmania and imported sheep to NZ and held large sheep properties in the Invercargill, Dunedin areas of the south Island. The info I am after mainly relates to the NSW branch of the family. It seems the township of Hay was a key area for the Basstian clan. |

Hi Greg have you searched Ancestry.com.au there are a large number of Basstian's in Hay and Hobart and the marriage record for Neils ad Anne as below |
