My maiden name was shirley bate.I was born in croydon to parents george edward bate brn 1927 staffordshire and noreen bate nee kemp from normandy kent brn 1931 also a croydon family. My grandfather was a miner in cannock and I believe his father before him My grandmother emma bate died in her early 20s during an operation. She left my dad and a daughter Joyce who died age est.. 3yrs.My grandfather remarried and had a son called cyril bate.He had two children the boys name was david bate, but I cannot remember the girls.My parents split in 1961, so contact with my grandfathers family ceaced. any relatives in staffordshire ????? |
