if you have any information about my grandmother SARA (Sadie)BOTFIELD born Glasgow +/-1901. She had a brother calledJohn and others called Thomas and Joseph; but in her diary she put a ? mark against John's name. One of her sisters was called Rose. Rose lived in Carlisle, too, as did her brothers; this leads me to believe that my great grandma left Glasgow to come to Carlisle. In Carlisle my Gran married GEORGE WOOD. It has now been discovered that my grandmother had / has step brothers/ sisters and their names were / are Shields. There appears to have been one step-sister called Sarah Shields later Sarah Milne. This side of her family were from Glasgow or that area, it is believed. Other members of the family that I can find names for are: George Wood's mother, my Great -Grandmother, Mary Elizabeth. she died 1951. May Sergeant, cousin Annie Rackham, cousin Josephine Bowman, niece John (?) Botfield, her father, my great-Grandfather. There is a ? mark against his name which suggests she was not sure if he was actually her father. Maria Shields, sister (?) Betty Shields, sister, later Ritchie John Wood, my father, her son born 11.2.1921, married Nora my mother and had 9 children. he disappeared approx 1961or 2 Mary, my aunt, her daughter, later married Jack Hodgson, son Michael F. Mary Mason, cousin to Sarah Botfield (Wood) Alan Curtis, nephew, born 1938 Gladys May Botfield (sister?) later married to Alan Bowman (travellers?) Frankie Bowman, nephew Any help, at all, will be gratefully received.
