Although - if you search for a birth for Leonard Kaye at FreeBMD (url above), you will find on in Chipping Norton in 1901 that would very probably be him. That birth cert would give his parents' names.

If that's him, he did have the great consideration to be born just before the 1901 census!

I am researching for a friend. Her mother, Victoria Canada born 1926 had parents IRENE BROTCHIE and LEONARD KAYE who born UK.
My friend knows so little about these families but is interested in the Brotchie family in particular. She knows they were from Scotland originally but not much else.
Any help would be great.

I did provide the url for FreeBMD right at the beginning, note. Since the family isn't Christina's own, I didn't feel the usual reluctance about spoiling the fun of discovery for someone, so I took it back a generation, but didn't want to go much farther until knowing that Christina was reading and interested.

I see now (our Canadian morning, but it's still very early on the west coast) that Christina has read my PM directing her to this thread.

This may all be a tad overwhelming now! I'll wait to hear from her.
