Only problem, Evie, he's a cabinet maker, a far cry from a veterinary surgeon. |

Thanks for your help everyone! Evelyn Beryle Stannus Cater appears on her marriage certificate as 25 years old in April1898 which would make her born C1873 and yes she did become a Hammond. She was supposedly the daughter of Reuben Cater.I don't think that she could be Evelyn Beatrice Ashby as the wrong second name and wrong age.Evelyn was definitely born in Hull Yorkshire as her husbands name is correct and my grandfather had a brother called Arthur. |

Well, I think she altered her given names when she married, for starters. |

I wondered if Stannus might have been her original surname but like you I could not find anything that remotely matched. Idon't know what to try next. |

I'm poking around at a family of Stannus-s in Yorkshire in 1851-71. |

Search the IGI for surname Stannus, no other criteria. |

A GR member named Shelly has that whole passel of Stannus-s in her tree here. |
