Hi there. I am trying to locate information regarding the Cawte Families in New Zealand. When they first arrived into New Zealand? Where did they land in New Zealand? Any information would be very helpful. Joanna Cawte

Hi Joanna,
I don't know if we have corresponded before but I have several members of my branch of the Cawte family who emigrated to New Zealand in the 1840s.
They are descendants of John Cawte and Emily Wellstead. John Cawte travelled first on board the Whitby. No women and children allowed on this exploratory voyage. Emily followed on the Lloyds vessel.
