Hi

I'm trying to find any trace of my wife's family...they were from the Braintree area. Her birth name was Carol Mileham, born 1959. Her father;s name was Len Mileham, Her mum's maiden name was Gladys Cooper and her Grandmother's name was Madelaine Marie Ward.

If anyone can shed some light on this for me I would be very grateful.

Thanks, and a happy new year to all.

freeBMD has a Madeline Marie Ward born June 1887 Ipswich.

There is a Madaline Ward c1887 Ipswich on the 1891 & 1901 census in Wanstead, Essex.

A Madeline M Ward married an Ernest J Cooper in Mar 1921 in West Ham.

I'm new at this...is 'free bmd' a board member or a research tool?

excuse the glaring ignorance!

Don't worry Stephen, we were all beginners once.

Freebmd site is useful to help locate events 1837 to about 1915ish.
People have transcribed events taken from GRO registers.
No FULL details are shown, You'd need certificates for that but browse the site and see what you can find...
.Test it with what you know you might find between the given dates...

A link is here

Best results are if you don't put too much information in the search boxes.
