I have been researching the Denchfield side of my family tree, there are quite a lot of them born in Wing, Buckinghamshire, dating back to 1700's .
I am trying to find out if my Great Grandmother Charlotte Elizabeth (registered Lottie Elizabeth) Denchfield born 1895 to Seth & Eliza Denchfield , had any brothers or sisters...but I am stuck and a bit confused. The problem being Charlotte's father Seth born 1854 was 1 of 10 children, so I cannot really know if those born around Charlotte's year of birth were sibling's of her or cousins!!
Does anyone know anyway I could possibly determine this and also at as little cost as possible??
Any help or information would be gratefully received !
Many thanks

Hi Donna
On the 1901 census Seth and Eliza are shown as living at Vicarage Lane, Wing "part of" with just their daughter Elizabeth aged 5. Elizabeth was born "Beds Leighton". Seth is 47 and Eliza is 33. When did they marry?

For reference; previous thread. This would probably have been better as a continuation of that thread.
One suggestion is that if you have an address for them in the 1901 census, you could apply for access to the 1911 census for that address and see who was living there. That ain't cheap -- but if you were lucky and they were indeed still there, it would answer your question pretty much all at once.
The address in 1901 was: ... well, no help there, of course. Vicarage Lane, no house number. You could ask whether, where there are no house numbers, the Archives will look at the street for the name you want:
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/1911census/
This is Seth in 1901:
Name: Leth Denchfield Age: 47 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1854 Relation: Head Spouse's Name: Eliza Gender: Male Where born: Wing, Buckinghamshire, England
Would you like his name corrected at Ancestry, if you aren't subscribed there? If you PM me an email address (get a permanent anonymous one at www.gmail.com for posting on the net), I'll correct his name and include a note with your email address saying that you would like contacts.

I wondered whether Eliza might have had a previous marriage (Seth doesn't seem to have had) and that was why they married several years after Lottie's birth:
Marriages Sep 1900 Baker Eliza Jane Leighton B 3b 857 Denchfield Seth Leighton B. 3b 857
But it seems not; this would be Eliza Jane Baker in 1881:
Name: Eliza J. Baker Age: 16 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1865 Relation: Daughter Father's Name: Stephen Gender: Female Where born: Wing, Buckinghamshire, England Civil Parish: Wing County/Island: Buckinghamshire Country: England Street address: Recently Built (hey, ask for a 1911 search on that one!) Condition as to marriage: Others (It actually repeats: "Daur", for daughter) Occupation: Straw Plaiter Registration district: Leighton Buzzard Sub-registration district: Wing ED, institution, or vessel: 1
Eliza J. Baker 16 Stephen Baker 58 Thomas Brand 60

Where the heck is Seth in 1881?
Do you suppose this could be him, misrecorded due to illiteracy / enumerator incomprehension etc.?
Name: Seth Kempster Age: 22 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1859 Relation: Boarder Gender: Male Where born: Winggrave, Buckinghamshire, England Civil Parish: Clerkenwell County/Island: London Country: England Street address: 1a Locks Gardens Occupation: Milk Carrier Registration district: Holborn Sub-registration district: Amwell ED, institution, or vessel: 9a
Wm. Andrews 20 G. Bates 20 Jos. Bates 39 M. A. Bates 38 Seth Kempster 22
-- Bates-s all from Winggrave also -- although that's not actually what it says; it's Wingr***.
Edit -- nah, that guy is in Wingrave in 1871 with his parents. Just leaving it here to rule him out.
Eliza needs fixing in 1871, too:
Name: Eliza Bake Age: 4 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1867 Relation: Daughter Father's Name: Stephen Mother's Name: Sophia Gender: Female Where born: Wing, Buckinghamshire, England Civil Parish: Wing Town: Wing County/Island: Buckinghamshire Country: England Registration district: Leighton Buzzard Sub-registration district: Wing ED, institution, or vessel: 1 Household schedule number: 21
Eliza Bake 4 Sophia Bake 43 Stephen Bake 48

Hi jeanette, thanks for your question, I believe they married in 1900, though in the 1891 census they stated that they were married then but I cannot find any marriage dates that confirm that.
Any more info would be gratefully received or anyone who knows anyone connected to the Denchfields if they could pass on any details....

Hi Donna
Don't worry about the deleted post. That was me and I deleted it because I pressed the wrong button! Have you thought of parish records if you live near and know where they are held. As no children are shown on the 1891 census and only Lotty Elizabeth on 1901, would it be safe to assume any siblings would have been born after that. There are at least 3 possibilities registered at Leighton Buzzard before 1911. As already mentioned if you could get information from 1911 census that would be the easiest way. Mind you, I have spent many a happy hour looking through parish records - it's amazing what you find there.
Good luck.
