I am trying to find the birth place of Clement Elswood C1750, my research so far shows Clement married Ann Lidden 1777 at Beaminster, Dorset, England and had issue, James 1778, Thomas 1781 (my Thomas family branch line), Mary 1784 and James 1790 all born and christened at Beaminster. Would very much appreciate some help.

Tony,
Have you tried Chard in somerseat?

My great, great grandfarther was called Clement Elswood and so far I have traced them back to Chard. There is a large church in the town centre that has a war memorial in the grounds and Frank Elswood is on the memorial as he died in the 1st ww on the 1st day of the Somme. His farther was called Clement and he was an Iron worker and riddle maker.
Hope that this is of some help to you.

Regards

Frank Elswood
