Hi Polly
Yes these are both them - when Levi remarried - my Granny Rose moved back to Isaac s her grandfather - there is also another sister Evelyn (Eva) - who also moved to her mother Ellen s parents - I presume it was not suitable for 16 and 18 year old girls to be living with their stepbrothers of 17 and 19 years

Both the sisters Rose ( who was actually registered as Rosina ) and Evelyn - married from their grandparents house

Levi - their father - died in 1901 - and I cannot find any trace Frederick and Jane after the 1891 census

Thanks for giving your time to help

I have the details of this marriage now and will check it out - Long Bredy - Martins Town and West Stafford - are not close 6 miles and 20 miles -

Still well worth checking

Thanks you

Irene

Corinne Report 17 Jun 2010 13:09

Oh, well, it was worth a stab - there are a lot of Fred Turners!

Irene, you mentioned in your last message that the girls married from their grandparents' address - what were their married names? Any idea of their husbands' names and when they married?

Renes

Renes Report 17 Jun 2010 13:50

Yes I have all the information on Evelyn and Rose - more or less to present day - Rose was my maternal grandmother - I have checked that Fred and Jane were not with them at any stage - also checked that they may ( goodness knows why) adopted the stepmothers name of Cheesman - also checked out the two Cheesman boys - they were not with them

One slight glimmer whilst rechecking and writing up my post I remembered that Mary Cheesman had a daughter Ann Jane Cheesman Cerne Abbas c1869 - who is shown as married to a C .G. ODonnell, c 1867 born Ireland
marriage Dec qtr 1890
Cheeseman Annie Jane Wareham 5a641
O'Donnell George Wareham 5a641

I had not paid to much attention to this - as it is not my line - Now I am thinking - did Jane and Fred go to Ireland
as there really does not seem to be a trace of either of them after 1891

Ah well - thanks so much for your help - is there a look up person for Ireland do you know - Did NI come under England - or were they all separate

Thanks for help

Irene

I am not sure whether to feel happy or
sad about not finding Fred and Jane Turner - happy as it would seem that I had searched properly and they have just " disappeared" or sad that I had missed something somewhere and GR researchers found them - or vice versa if you see what I mean

Renes Report 23 Jun 2010 22:07

I have now checked out the stepsisters Irish husband - he was an orphan from Mount Cashel Orphanage -so my Frederick and (Ada) Jane are not likely to be with his family

Any one have any ideas where I could look next please

Thank you

Irene

Ive had just had a quick look and wondered if you had looked at this possible for Ada Jane?

I have looked at Ada Jane Turner's born from 1870-1876 and this is the results

Ada Jane Turner 1871 Apr-May-Jun Sussex, East Sussex
View Record

Ada Jane Turner 1873 Oct-Nov-Dec Durham, Yorkshire - North Riding
View Record

Ada Jane Turner 1870 Jan-Feb-Mar Yorkshire - West Riding

Ada Jane Turner 1870 Jul-Aug-Sep Essex, Hertfordshire
View Record

Ada Jane Turner 1876 Jul-Aug-Sep Dorset

I then looked at marriages and found this

Willis William Lee 1901 Fareham Hampshire

Ada Jane Turner 1901 Fareham Hampshire

Looked at the 1901 and found this

I have just checked the census image and she is 24 and not 29.Makes her c1877 birthyear.

Well worth a look i think.

Irene

Had another look at 1901 census image and birth details are muddled i believe. The occupation of the husband Willis is listed on the same line as Ada and i looked for his birth and he i believe is born in Hampshire

England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915

Name: Willis William Lee

So therefore the Martin's Town is for Ada i think

Michelle - had a quick look again at Martins town baptisms - if she was born Martins town it is her - there is only one Ada Jane - baptized in Martins Town - can you see them in 1911 please -if they had children I can normally tell it is my Turners - as they use the same group of names fo at least some of the children - if not all - I really do think you have found her thank you so much so very excited - Thank Irene

I do not have access to the 1911 on the site i use. Hopefully someone here has and will help.
I feel confident it is her, and she was well hidden. The census records sadly are full of errors which make finding ancestors tricky sometimes.
I am off to work now, but i can look later for possible children born in the same area for you later.
Hopefully in the meantime someone will help with a 1911.

The above may not be Willis and Ada's children you would have to check with the records office. They are in the correct area though and do have the turner maiden name.

I will take a look for Fred tonight :)
