Kelly, ignore the Crabb family. They live next door and should not have been included with the Kings!

Thomas is a general dealer.

Kelly, I know you will think I am mad, but try this one. I know it doesn't say 'King', but surnames were often mis-transcribed.

I know you think he was born in 1893, but if he was born in late 1892 he would have been 8 on the 1901 census.

If you apply for the certificate and specify that the father's name must be Thomas and the mother's name must be Mary, the GRO will check and will not issue it if the parents' names are not right.

Stevie Report 22 May 2009 20:35

Hi Kelly, sorry to see that the marriage cert was incorrect.

Have you been able to acquire any of the birth certs for their children?

This would confirm the mothers name. As if I recall correctly, there was some uncertainty as whether her 1st name was Irene or Winifred.

Regards,
Steve.

Stevie Report 22 May 2009 22:22

Hi Kelly,
Just another thought.

As the marriage cert you received is not the correct one. I now think that the birth info I provided for Walter E King 1935. Is a son of that marriage & not of the family you are looking for.
Reason being is that place of both birth & marriage is Deptford, and the name of the man in the marriage cert is also Walter E King.

Regards,
Steve

JANET AND HENRY KING
hope i have set this out properly

i received JANET'S birth certificate and the KINGS are up to it again, ?
JANET'S mother was winifred jull, fathers name walter w king, so he has dropped william which was his first name

they moved to bedfordshire in the war years where janet and her brother HENRY were born, and returned to london after,

WALTER or WILLIAM KING
was in the merchant navy which was confirmed on janet's birth cert he was a coal porter on board ship.

i am now trying to find there marriage, i can only think that he used walter and not william ?

this king family is a nightmare ?

thanks all
kelly

Have PM'd this info to Kelly. Putting this up here as well to keep it all together.
_________________________________________________________
Hi Kelly,
So Walters wife, is Winifred Jull. You said that the marriage cert that you received for Walter & Winifred was wrong. What was wrong about the details in the cert?

I've look for her birth reg & only found 3 entries for Jull with Winifred in the 1st names:

Name: Winifred Annie Jull
Year of Registration: 1893
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Eastry
County: Kent
Volume: 2a
Page: 980

Name: Marjory Winifred Jull
Year of Registration: 1906
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Luton
County: Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire
Volume: 3b
Page: 397

Name: Winifred M Jull
Mother's Maiden Surname: Wood
Date of Registration: Jul Aug Sep 1929
Registration district: Milton
Registration county: Surrey,Kent
Volume Number: 2a
Page Number: 1729

The 1st Winifred born 1893 died in 1911. And the 3rd on too young as she'd have been only 8yrs old when Georgina was born.
This only leaves Marjory Winifred Jull as a possible candidate.

Also with there only being these 3 Winifred Julls, I'd be very surprised (not impossible though), if two of them both happened to marry Walter Kings.

Regards,
Steve.
