I need to find out more about the forebears of Helen Lownie, my mother-in-law. She was born in Glasgow, about 1911. She had a brother named John AKA Jack, who emigrated to USA as a young man and was lost from sight, (I want to find out about him too.) Her father, who might also have been John was a very well known magicien, ( prestidigitarien) and he and Helen worked together on the stage in Scotland before she moved to England. She was a musicien as well and played the piano on the Clyde river boats. This was all before 1936.She also worked as a waitress at the Arts Club in Glasgow and waiting remained her trade. She married Edmond Richardson, but I think she was in England at that time. |
