Find Ancestors

Good morning. Please can anyone help. I really dont know where to start. I am trying to find the Howells family from Brierley Hill area of the West Midlands. We dont have any living relatives to give us any information. Archibold Howells was born in Brierley Hill in 1930 and his father was also Archibold Joseph Howells born 1905ish. He died in April 1984. He married a Mary Elizabeth...?..
Arhibold Howells (1930) Married Vera Amelia Round (1931)from hawbush Brierley Hill....We only know that Veras mother was also called Amelia and she died in 1949. We believe they had Eric, Violet, Jack, Jean, Olive and Maureen. It is proving really difficult to find any ancesters. Would anyone please give us any tips or help in where to go next. Archibold and Vera have now passed on and we dont know what to do to find where we came from.
