WILLIAM HUNTER born 1872/1875 probably in Glasgow, my grandfather.
He married Agnes Dunning in London on 10/11/1895, his occupation a horse-keeper/groom.
His father also William Hunter (deceased) a horse-foreman. (Info from Marriage cert)
His mother Elizabeth born in Markinsh,Fifeshire and his sister Isabella born Glasgow about 1876 were also in London, Isabella - a military embroideress. (1901 Census)
That is all I know for sure.
If I have the correct family on 1881 census, they are in London. Elizabeth is noted as wife, her occupation horse dealer but her husband was not at home for the census.
Family rumour says that William Hunter born 1830s/40s my great-grandfather, once owned a distillery in Scotland but lost it.
I’ve contacted ‘hot matches’ but they do not have descendents of their William, and I have no ancestors for mine.
Any information would be most gratefully received.
