I am seeking information on my great-grandfather - Charles Thomson Hunter, born about 1850 and who worked as a blacksmith in Scotland. He was the son of James Hunter and Janet Bell. Charles was married to Jane McLachlane Craig in 1875 in Ayr. Their children were (1) Mary b. 1877-8, New Cumnoch and married to Alex Orroch; (2) James b. 1879, Stirling, married to Jemina Bon-Guer Stewart; (3) Margaret b. 1881, New Cumnoch; (4) Jessie, b. 1883, New Cumnoch - married to Jim Ross; (5) Alexander Stewart b. 1884, Killearn, Stirling married to Sarah Crawford Fraser of Lesmahagow (my grandparents); (6) Charles Thomson, b. 1894, Balfron. I am unable to locate my ggrandfather's birth location or the year or any information about his wife Jane. His father James was a baker. If anyone has any information on this family would be pleased to hear from you. Linda Hunter |
