I am trying to track down Jack James and family b 1896 on the River Isis at Swinford Bridge in Oxford. His father George James ran boats from Oxford to Coventry. Jack was the 2nd eldest son, but I don't have the names of the other siblings.
Jack later moved to Stoke Bruene become a lock keeper and founded the museum there that is still there today. My husbands grandfather is George James b 1913 and is one of Jack's younger brothers.
I would be grateful for any help in finding the family in the 1901 census as I'm not sure if the census picked up people living on the river or canal. Plus any info regarding Jack's father George

many thanks
Laurinda
