Find Ancestors

I am trying to trace my grandfather's maternal line and have his grandmother as Hannah Jenner b.1852 in Wotton, daughter of William Jenner b 1806, Ewhurst, Surrey and Hannah Bullen b 1818, Albury, Surrey.

Unfortunately I cannot get any further back than this. Any help would be appreciated. (Mary Jenner was her sister).

The info is extracted from parish records so is reliable.

The IGI batch numbers for Ewhurst baptisms for the period, found here:

are C069722 and C069721. The only Jenner baptism listed was in 1832. So William isn't so easy.

Aha, since they didn't marry until 1850, might William be with parents in 1841? Not likely ...

Silly me -- I'd assumed they'd married pre-1837, from William's age, so didn't go to the GRO. Of course the marriage certificate will show both fathers' names!

Deborah -- you probably aren't prubery6790 at Ancestry. That is the username of the person who has corrected the "Jesmer"s in 1861 ... saying nothing but "transcription error", i.e. giving no clue as to whether s/he is related to the family or not.

You should try to contact that person through Ancestry, if you aren't acquainted. (If you are not a subscriber, one of us would certainly pass a message with your email address on through the Ancestry system.)

Could William have been not as old as he is shown as in 1861?

But William's age is consistent in 1871. So that baptism must be the younger one in 1841.
