Any help welcomed. I cannot seem to go back any further than my gt.gt.gt. grandfather JOHN GILLARD. I am trying to find out the name of his parents.
A friend did find some info detailing a JOHN GILLERD under the parish of Huntspill (which I believe is Somerset), with his mother listed as Elizabeth, and John listed as an illegitemate child. I have no way of knowing if this is definitely him, especially as the surname is spelt different.
I believe he came from the Bridgwater area of Somerset, and already know that he married a lady called MARY ALFORD. They had 6 children that I know of called: JAMES, THOMAS, MARY, MARTHA, SAMUEL AND MARIA.
If there is anyone out there that could possibly help, I would be most grateful.
His birth year is circa 1820, so it is difficult for me to order a birth certificate without knowing the right quarter. This document may help in finding out his parents names.
