Thanks and thanks again.I've just returned to see if by any chance I had any more messages.I will have a look at the 1911 census again,more carefully this time and at the Charles and Hannah.Having ordered the marriage cert of John and Annie I decided in for a penny in for a pound and have ordered the birth certificate of Charles Alfred Pearson also.I will be sure and let you know the results.

I now have Charles Alfred Pearson's(1896) birth cert,you were correct his parents were John Pearson and Annie Elizabeth Pearson née Munday.Cert says that John was an engineer.The wedding cert(received today) says her father was Anthony Walter Munday but that John's father was James Pearson,Engine Fitter and Turner.It also says that John aged 24 was a private in the 1st Battalion ? Guards and at the time of his marriage was living in Chelsea Barracks.
Even with the info on the marriage certificate I haven't managed to trace him on the '71,'81 and '91 census.Please give it one more try.

As suggested by you the parents of Charles Alfred Pearson(1896) were John Pearson(1868)York and Alice Elizabeth Pearson née Munday(1871) Burnham,Bucks.This cert says John Pearson was an engineer.
The marriage cert(1892) for these two says John was a private in the 1st Battalion ? Guards,his father was James Pearson an Engine Fitter and Tuner.At the time of the marriage John was living in Chelsea Barracks.Even with the info from the certificates I can find no trace of him on any census until 1911.
Please can any help me.

Please do not be put off by those who have criticised you for starting a new thread. Technically they are correct in so far as having a duplicate thread is a bad thing as it can lead to wasteful duplication of effort by those who are prepared to try to help you. However sometimes a little empathy is needed by those who note the duplication, a quality that not everybody possesses.

May I suggest that to prevent duplication of effort and to appease those who have noted the duplication that you delete your "New" thread and leave this thread in place so that those who are willing to try to help you will endeavour to help you find the answer to your queries.

As John Pearson was in the military when he married in 1892 it is possible that his apparent absence from the 1901 UK census may indicate that he was away, involved in the Boer war at the time. His wife and children should however still be in the UK.

Can you take another look at the marriage certificate to see whether it is possible to identify which guards regiment he was in.

Sorry for the delay in replying.The company on the marriage certificate is 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards.
It's confusing that John Pearson 1868 York is now John Parsons 1868.Woolwich.I know that names are misspelled but York is a long way from Woolwich.
I have tried to delete the extra threads but Genes say they are working on the site.

Hi Wendy,

Can you post ALL the details from that marriage cert please - names, addresses, ages, fathers, occupations etc., + witnesses (These can often be family members and can sometimes help a lot).

The 1st Battalion of the Coldstream Guards were involved in the Boer War. It was based in Gibraltar in 1899 and arrived in South Africa in November that year where most of it remained until October 1902.
