I looking for any information regarding Ben Johnson. That was he stage name I believe. His real name we think was Elmer. He was born in 1927 in Trinidad. He came to the UK through his work as an Actor/ Dancer. He later in the 50's put together an act that toured through Europe. This show was called Carribean Heatwave. It featured himself, another male dancer and two female dancers. I believe they came to Cardiff (Tiger Bay) and worked with Shirley Bassey in her early career. It has been suggested that he did marry a lady in England and had a daughter. But I'm not sure of any dates or names. His career included film work with Dirk Bogart. the film was called Simba - Mark of the Mau Mau. If this tale rings a bell, please contact me. |
