Find Ancestors

Trying to go back further to find parents of this lady Mary Jones (sorry!)

she married Francois Beinder (not so bad) in Church of St John at Hackney on 24/12/1871 (image on Ancestry London Archives transcribed Francis Bender and Mary Janes).

Mary's father is Ephraim Jones (Carpenter) and witnesses are Henry Jordan and Winifred Jones Would like to find Ephraim and Mary on censuses before she married to find some idea of her mother/parents marriage(maybe she was Winifred?). I know what happened to her after she married.

that looks a distinct possibility doesn't it (if you didn't know how to spell Ephraim?) and they are a Hackney family down the line a bit.

just haven't found the same family in 1871 yet.... but it could be that they couldn't understand his accent as he was from North Wales and just put down Evan.

Yes that's what I was thinking?

Mary Jones' (Beinder's) first son was called Francois and the second Edward Evan Beinder so it is more than a possibility. I see they are Welsh Joneses.

Looks like them in 1871, but no children with them!!

I wonder where they had all gone then the older children were presumably off and away but Winifred and Catherine would have been too young.

this gives me the places of birth of Ephraim /Evan and his wife though but not sure I can face a search for Jones in Wales just at the moment.!

Have just found Winifred and Catherine's baptism record on Ancestry to Evan and Mary (also a Margaret)

the address at time of baptism is 92 Mansfield Street, when my great grandmother was christened in 1873 her address was 93 Mansfield Street, it must be them?

So John who would be 10 years old is missing here.....
A good census though, because if it is your family you can narrow down Marys DOB as this census was taken 30 March 1851, making Mary's birth around 9th March.

There are lots of baptisms from Evan/Jane marriage on Ancestry London Archives now that I have had a look.

This will give me some work to do later but I am pretty confident due to the similarity of the name, the address, the occupation the witness on the marriage cert beinf Winifred that I have the corrcet family.
