I am trying to find William Edward Jordan on the 1911 census. (Births Mar 1885 Jordan William Edward Blackburn 8e 391)

I have him with his mother Mary Ann Jordan in 1891, all living with her sister.

JORDAN, Edward Nephew Single M 6 1885 Scholar Blackburn Lancashire

William's younger brother John Joseph dies not long after the census is taken in 1891. His father, Michael, had already died in 1889.

His mother marries William Pilkington in 1894 and she dies in 1905.

William is on the 1901 census living with the above in Haslingden.

JORDAN, William E Step Son Single M 16 1885 Labourer(Brickyard) Blackburn Lancashire

Now i cannot find William on the 1911 census!! His step father is still living at the same address in 1911 as he was in 1901, he being the infamous 'husband' of Annie Maria 'flippin' Liggins...(those of you who know my fight with her will dislike her equally)

So where does William Edward Jordan go?

I had found a marriage for a William Edwrad Jordan in 1914 in Toxteth thinking it's possible he's moved, his mother has died and his step father has remarried, but alas it's not him.

So i'm William less currently, any help greatfully accepted,

Howdy! How about a death?

Name: William Edward Jordan
Birth Date: 9 Jan 1885
Death Registration Month/Year: 1970
Registration district: Dudley
Inferred County: Staffordshire
Volume: 9b
Page: 383

Matches a Q1 1885 birth reg -- and he's the only such birth that quarter.

Hmmm,

If thats his death he's completed a very bizarre full circle, that being the area his step father's 'wife' came from?

Hmmm.... might have to order that one and see what it says.

Cheers chick,

Yeah the pawnbroker one came from Peterborough, and as his only sibling died in infancy and infact he was an orphan by 1905 the other family are out too.

Thanks tho.

"As the death didn't have a month i looked at the image and he's William EVERARD Jordan"

Eh? You mean "William Edward Jordan" for that death is a mistranscription at Ancestry then?

Never!

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 10 Jan 2010 23:53

Okay, in 1891 he's Edward and in 1901 he's William E. Suggests he went by Edward.

MIGHT HE HAVE EMIGRATED?

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 11 Jan 2010 00:22

It's possible.

He was 16 in 1901, both his parents are dead by 1905, he has no siblings, and his step father sets up home and had a baby in 1907, 18 months after his mother had died.

I've not really given him much thought until the last couple of weeks, i did a bit a few years ago on him, but then left it...

Now he's bugging me again, he was technically family but he's just vanished...
